A video of a child singing an emotional song is going viral on social media. It says, “He is the son of an army officer whose father was killed during an operation against militants. Fact check-

We began our investigation with a reverse keyword search on Google and the results led us to a YouTube video by Pakistan-based Dunya News, uploaded on December 19, 2015. It contained a longer version of the viral video titled “Baba Meray Pyaray Baba – Tribute to APS Martyrs.”

As we went further, we found that the same video was uploaded on the YouTube channel SibteinTV. It was also posted on December 19, 2015 and it was shared that the little boy Ghulam-e-Murtaza sang this song for the victims of the APS attack in 2015.

With this clue, we searched for Ghulam Murtaza and found his Facebook profile Ghulam-e-Murtaza. While browsing the profile, we came across a post from September 2017 which said, “My father is alive. He is a great singer. And I am proud to be the son of Nadeem Abbas. My father is not an army officer but for me he is no less than a soldier.” And another post with a screenshot of such a claim from 2017 further stated that the video showed him “performing on stage with my father and grandfather Master Shahzad Akhtar.”

We also came across a video shared on a YouTube channel called 'Nadeem Abbas Guitar Lessons' which shows the same child sitting with two men. One of the men introduced himself as Nadeem Abbas and said that the child singing the song was actually his son named Ghulam-e-Murtaza.

Considering all this evidence, we can assume that the video is not new and that the child is not the son of an army martyr.
