14-year-old girl and teenager allegedly planned the murder of the girl's mother before the attack in Eastpointe

MACOMB COUNTY, Michigan. – Two teenagers are charged with conspiracy to commit murder after prosecutors say they planned to kill the girl’s mother.

According to the Macomb County District Attorney's Office, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, a 17-year-old boy entered the 14-year-old girl's mother's home in Eastpointe and strangled her, then ran away after being confronted.

The mother survived the attack and is expected to recover.

The prosecutor said the woman's 14-year-old daughter planned the murder of her mother together with the 17-year-old boy.

The 14-year-old girl was arraigned on August 14, 2024, and charged with solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree premeditated murder. Her bail was set at $1 million and she was remanded to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The 17-year-old boy was arraigned on August 12, 2024 and charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree premeditated murder and assault with intent to murder. His bail was set at $2.5 million and he was remanded to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The public prosecutor wants to charge both of them as adults. If convicted, they both face life sentences.

A probation hearing is scheduled for both of them on August 27, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. in Eastpointe District Court before District Judge Kathleen Galen.
