A$AP Rocky’s new album delayed due to “leaks and sample releases”

A$AP Rocky's new album is delayed due to “leaks and sample releases”.

A$AP Rocky had to postpone his new album

The release of “Don't Be Dumb” was planned for August 30th, but there were some setbacks so the album release had to be postponed until the fall.

After Billboard reported the release date change, Rocky wrote on X: “LEAKS AND SAMPLE RELEASES ARE DESTROYING THE ALBUM. IT'S BEEN 6 YEARS AND I WANT TO MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. SORRY FOR HAVING TO WAIT. (sic)”

In his interview with the magazine, the 35-year-old rapper – whose real name is Rakim Mayers – revealed that legendary filmmaker Tim Burton had heard the record and was a big fan.

He revealed: “I was sitting there playing the album to Tim Burton and he was going crazy, shaking his head back and forth and saying something like, 'Wow! I didn't know you made this kind of music!'”

The two were in contact because the “Praise The Lord” singer wanted the “Edward Scissorhands” director to design the artwork for the LP, but unfortunately they were not able to make this happen.

However, Danny Elfman, the famous composer who regularly worked with Burton, was involved in some of the music.

It's a highly collaborative endeavor and expected guests include Tyler, The Creator, Metro Boomin, Madlib, Pharrell Williams, Swedish House Mafia and Mike Dean.

Rocky’s last studio album was “Testing” from 2018.

The music star, who has two-year-old sons RZA and 12-month-old Riot with Rihanna, recently said his music has become “more meaningful” since becoming a father.

When asked if fatherhood had changed his approach to music, he told Apple Music's Zane Lowe: “I think sonically, things have changed a lot.”

“My taste in music is different, there are just different artists and genres, but that has all changed, especially the way it has influenced the way I make music and the way I release music now and so on.

“I think it's more meaningful. I have more to say. I have more personal, sensitive things to talk about and so on. And I think the trick is just finding that fine balance between being entertaining and telling a story or relaying something, telling someone who's listening something informative about yourself and so on.

“And that's kind of where I am now, I'm just one kid of two and so on and I'm just at the peak of my career as far as design and everything, and film and whatever, man, we've done it all.”
