Boy in Ohio attacked by dog and handcuffed, 3 people arrested: police

A 6-year-old boy was taken to an Ohio hospital over the weekend after he was pinned down and attacked by a pit bull, according to police. Three people have been arrested in connection with the case, officials said.

On Saturday, officers from the Ashland County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in Savannah, about 50 miles west of Akron, after receiving a report of a child who had been bitten in the neck and ear by a pit bull, a news release said.

Upon arrival, the victim was in serious condition and was flown in by helicopter for medical treatment, the sheriff's office said.

Their investigation revealed that the child was bound hand and foot when the animal harmed him, the press release said. Authorities said they found evidence of this when they searched the house.

Mother and two other people taken into custody

The 6-year-old's mother lived in the Savannah home, police said.

According to the Ashland County Sheriff's Office, the boy's mother lived with a family member of the homeowner and the dog.

Authorities said the homeowner and his pet were not on the scene when officers arrived, but were later found “hiding in a cabin on the upper floor of the building.”
