Kansas man arrested for hit-and-run involving fatal bicycle accident

SEDGWICK COUNTY – Police investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in Kansas have arrested Christopher Johnson, 23, of Wichita, on a felony charge, Sedgwick County records show. He remains in custody.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday morning, police responded to a traffic accident involving a car and a motorcycle at 2400 N. Hoover in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.

Emergency responders found 43-year-old Thomas Doyle of Wichita, who was riding the bicycle, unconscious. Thomas was later pronounced dead at the scene by Sedgwick County EMS.

Investigators determined that Doyle was traveling north on Hoover Street when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Johnson, which then continued traveling north.

The facts of the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney for consideration of formal charges.
