Man wanted for kidnapping and murder arrested in Arkansas





Harrison, Arkansas – Boone County officials arrested a man who had an outstanding warrant for kidnapping and murder in Colorado.

According to a press release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Branson police worked with Colorado law enforcement to find Corey Lee Handy, who allegedly kidnapped a woman against her will with a firearm. In addition to the kidnapping charge, Handy also had a warrant out for his arrest for violating probation because he was convicted of murder in 2012.

On August 21, 2024, officers from the Branson Police Department found Handy's vehicle at a residence in Harrison, Arkansas. Officers from the Boone County Sheriff's Office, with the help of Harrison Police and their special operations team, set up surveillance on the residence. Before officers could serve a search warrant for the home, Handy attempted to flee in his vehicle, but police were able to block the car and take him into custody.

Handy is currently being held in the Boone County Jail awaiting extradition to the State of Colorado.
