Teenager arrested after threatening to shoot AR Johnson on social media

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Richmond County Sheriff's Office was notified of a social media post indicating that AR Johnson Magnet School would be the target of a shooting, authorities said Friday.

On Thursday, August 22, authorities say they were notified of a social media post indicating that the AR Johnson Magnet School at 1324 Laney Walker Boulevard would be the target of a shooting spree.

During the investigation, the author of the post, a juvenile, was identified and arrested, authorities said.

The youth was taken to the CID and questioned. The youth admitted that it was a joke and that he had no intention of shooting in the school, authorities say.

It should also be noted that the juvenile did not have access to weapons. The juvenile was later arrested by the Regional Youth Detention Center on charges of terroristic threats and acts, according to the sheriff's office.
