Tottenham suffer injury shock as Ange Postecoglou confirms £65m summer signing Dominic Solanke injured after just ONE game

Ange Postecoglou has announced that £65m summer signing Dominic Solanke will miss Tottenham's game against Everton on Saturday due to injury.

The 26-year-old, who joined the club from Bournemouth last week, suffered an ankle injury in Spurs' 1-1 draw with Premier League newcomers Leicester City on Monday evening.

The Tottenham boss confirmed on Friday that he would miss the game against the Toffees and revealed that the injury had “flared up” since then.

“Dom picked up an injury in the last game and played through, but the injury flared up again the day after so he will miss tomorrow,” said the Australian manager.

On his debut, Solanke seemed a little slower than his teammates and was unable to convert several chances for Spurs in the first half.

Postecoglou shed more light on the injury, adding: “It's an ankle injury that he sustained very early on when someone ran over his ankle.”

“It just depends on his recovery,” he said when asked when he was likely to return. “Of course we have the international break. But it's not serious.”

The manager also stated that Richarlison is “ready to play” and is likely to be Solanke's replacement after the winger returns from a long-term calf injury that has kept him out of action since May.

Rodrigo Bentancur is also unavailable after suffering a serious head injury in Monday's game.

“We respect concussion protocols and [with] “With every head injury we will always be a little more cautious,” Postecoglou told Bentancur.

“The good news is that he has recovered really well and passed all concussion tests. But we will take our time with Rodrigo before sending him back on the field.”

Postecoglou also added that Yves Bissouma could potentially return to the squad after the midfielder was suspended for the team's first Premier League game – after a video was published online showing the Mali international inhaling laughing gas.

His manager had spoken openly to the media about the matter, saying the midfielder had “made a really bad decision”, but later added that he believed it was important to “give people the opportunity to learn from their mistakes”.

On Friday, he stated that Bissouma was available for the game against Everton and added that the two had begun to mend their relationship.

“Biss is available, but we have some options and the whole idea of expanding the squad in pre-season was intended for such scenarios,” added Postecoglou.

“He is up for election, but the bridge building continues”
