Court documents: Mamta Bhatt's husband accused of murdering her and dragged body out of house

Criminal complaint documents obtained by FOX 5 show that Naresh Bhatt, the husband of Mamta Kafle, a young Virginia mother who is missing and presumed dead, is accused of murdering her and dragging her body from her Manassas Park home.

Naresh Bhatt is charged with concealing a corpse. He was arrested on Thursday after investigators spent much of the day at his Heather Court apartment.

Court documents state that a significant amount of digital and forensic evidence was recovered from the house, suggesting that Mamta's body was inside the house and was probably dragged out. The documents also suggest that the murder took place on July 30.

Mamta, mother of an 11-month-old baby, was last seen at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center on July 27. Her last known contact was on July 28, when she spoke with a friend.

Bhatt reportedly told police that he last saw his wife on July 31. After his arrest, police corrected their time and said she was last seen four days earlier.

The investigation into her disappearance began on August 2, when a co-worker called police and requested a welfare check after Kafle failed to show up for her shift at the hospital. Police went to the house to check and spoke to Bhatt, who reportedly told them that his wife was not missing. He filed a missing persons report three days later.

Bhatt was named as a person of interest in the investigation and police cordoned off areas around the Manassas Park home Wednesday night and Thursday morning. He was escorted out of the home in handcuffs later Thursday morning.
