Daughter of woman found dead in Buncombe County, North Carolina, charged with murder, officials say

A day after a North Carolina woman was found dead in her home during a wellness check, her daughter has been charged with murder, officials said. Christina Esmay of the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said Friday that Danya Kathryn Dewey, 39, of Black Mountain, is charged with first-degree murder. Officials say they were called to conduct a wellness check at a home on Clarks Crossing Way in the Black Mountain area on Thursday. When they arrived, 63-year-old Lori Pallinger was found dead. (See video above.) They released a previous mugshot of Dewey with information about the vehicle she may have been driving during their search for her. Officials did not release any information about Dewey's previous arrest. Esmay did not release the location or circumstances of Dewey's arrest. She said Dewey is being held without bail in the Buncombe County Detention Center.
