Woman arrested after attack on 8-year-old child

A Lima woman was arrested on Thursday, August 22, after police were called to the city around 3:54 p.m. to investigate a reported domestic dispute.

Bellefontaine police officers said they were called to a residence on Clark Avenue because a woman had assaulted an eight-year-old child.

According to the report, the victim was allegedly arguing with another child when 26-year-old Krysta Lyon came into the home and punched the victim in the face. When the victim shoved Lyon in self-defense, Lyon continued to punch the child, knocking him to the ground and continuing to punch him in the ribs, according to witnesses.

Lyon left the scene before officers arrived, and Bellefontaine Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene to evaluate the victim and treat his visible injuries.

Police learned that Lyon was in the Logan County Court of Common Pleas and was encountered during a hearing. She was arrested and charged with domestic violence and child endangerment, both first-degree misdemeanors. Lyon was taken to the Logan County Jail without further incident.
