Shooting on Canal Street in downtown New Orleans: One person injured

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred downtown on Canal Street Friday morning. According to NOPD, a security guard on Canal Street got into an argument with a man before pulling out a gun and shooting him. The shooting was reported around 9:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Canal Street near the intersection of St. Charles Avenue. The person shot was taken to an area hospital for treatment. NOPD said no charges will be filed against the security guard.

New Orleans police are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday morning downtown on Canal Street.

According to the NOPD, a security guard on Canal Street got into a fight with a man before pulling out a gun and shooting him.

The shooting was reported around 9:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Canal Street near the intersection of St. Charles Avenue.

The person who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to NOPD, no charges have been filed against the security officer.
