Public hearing of Delphi murder suspect Richard Allen cancelled

DELPHI, Indiana – The closed hearing for Delphi murder suspect Richard Allen ended at 1:37 p.m. Friday, and the subsequent public hearing was canceled.

“There is no public hearing,” Carroll County Sheriff Tony Liggett said as he left the courtroom at 1:37 p.m. “That's all I can tell you. That's all.”

The crowd of stunned reporters, podcasters, the public and the families of the victims then began to leave the hall.

Indiana State Police officers and others entered a room with the family of victim Libby German. It is unknown what was said behind those closed doors.

Allen is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of murder in the commission of a kidnapping. Prosecutors allege Allen killed German and Abby Williams on the afternoon of February 13, 2017, east of the Monon High Bridge.
