One person injured in accident in Adams County on Friday

ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – The Adams County Sheriff's Office says it is investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle that left one person injured Friday.

According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 200 East and State Road 218.

According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, 58-year-old Donald Shumaker of Fort Recovery, Ohio, was driving a passenger vehicle south on County Road 200 E when he failed to yield the right of way to a motorcycle traveling west on State Road 218.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection, resulting in significant injuries to the motorcyclist, 65-year-old Leslie Shaneyfelt of Berne, Indiana.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office said Shaneyfelt was taken to a regional hospital where he is currently in stable condition but is receiving medical treatment.

According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, both Shumaker and Shaneyfelt have submitted blood samples for testing as part of the ongoing investigation. The results of the blood tests are pending and will be reviewed when they are available.

Adams County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Berne Fire Department and Berne Police Department assisted the Adams County Sheriff's Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
