Man arrested for burglary and theft

DAVIESS CO., Ky. (WFIE) – Deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff's Office have made an arrest after investigating several thefts and burglaries that occurred in Daviess County over the summer.

According to a news release, officers were dispatched to arrest Scottie Lee Brooks on Wednesday at a home in the 1000 block of Yelvington-Grandview Road.

Officials say as officers approached, Brooks fled into a wooded area behind the house. He could not be found.

At 7:30 a.m. Friday, detectives were in the Yelvington area and saw Brooks pull out of a driveway in the 9300 block of KY 405.

When officers attempted to stop Brooks, he fled, leading to a chase.

Brooks eventually abandoned his vehicle in the 1000 block of Yelvington-Grandview Road and continued to flee from authorities.

Additional detectives and sheriff's deputies responded and a security perimeter was set up.

Brooks was eventually found in the 1000 block of Yelvington-Grandview Road.

He was turned over to the DCSO Criminal Investigation Division for questioning before being charged and lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.

The following allegations are made against Brooks:

  • Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree (2 counts)
  • First degree willful endangerment (police officer)
  • First degree escape or elude from police
  • Second degree fleeing or eluding police
  • Ignore stop sign
  • Failure to give or incorrect signal (2 points)
  • Failure to fasten seat belts
  • Second degree trespassing
  • Burglary 3rd degree
  • Manipulation of physical evidence
  • Arrest warrants for failure to appear (3 counts)
  • Arrest warrant for non-payment of fine.
