Eminem apologizes to his children with home videos

Eminem's latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), ends with a track called “Somebody Save Me,” which details the character's death and features Marshall Matters.

In the lyrics, Eminem apologizes to his children for missing out on important moments in their lives because of his drug addiction. And that's exactly what his music video tells us, featuring home videos of Hailie Jade performing a guitar concert, Alaina graduating from high school – who unsuccessfully asks him to get up in the opening moments of the video – and Stevie opening Christmas presents. His brother Nate is also seen on vacation.

The track contains a sample from country and rap artist Jelly Roll, more specifically from his 2020 single “Save Me”. That’s why Jelly Roll is also featured in the video and sings the track’s big hook.

'Save Me' had already reached the top 30 in the US and UK without any further promotion, and now it remains to be seen whether, released as a single, it can extend the life of an album that remains in the UK top 10 and US top 16 in its 5th week. For now, the shadow of first single 'Houdini' – with its famous sample of 'Abracadabra' – seems too long. After 3 months, 'Houdini' is still hovering in the global top 50 on Spotify, having reached number 1 in the UK and number 2 in the US.
