William Zepeda plans reconnaissance mission for Shakur Stevenson's fight against Cordina on October 12

William Zepeda is considering traveling to Saudi Arabia to watch Shakur Stevenson ringside and support him in his fight against Joe Cordina on October 12 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. #1 Zepeda (31-0, 27 KOs) will be Shakur's next challenger in February if he successfully defeats Cordina (17-1, 9 KOs).

Zepeda: Stevenson’s toughest test yet

Zepeda would be by far the toughest opponent of WBC lightweight champion Shakur's career. It will prepare him for a mega fight against WBA champion Gervonta David in the summer of 2025.

For scouting purposes, William Zepeda would be better off watching Shakur's fight against Edwin De Los Santos on YouTube rather than attending his fight against Cordina, as he will likely move a lot less against the British fighter than he did against him. Cordina is not much of a threat to him and is coming off a bad KO loss.

Shakur will be wary against Zepeda as he lacks the chin or offensive skills to match him.

“[Trainer] Jay Najar told me that he and 'Camarón' Zepeda are considering a trip to Saudi Arabia to watch the Stevenson-Cordina fight with an eye toward the possibility of facing Shakur next February,” Salvador Rodriguez said on X about William Zepeda's plans to watch WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson's next fight against Joe Cordina on October 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Zepeda will fight Shakur because he fought mover Giovanni Cabrera last July. Cabrera moved around the ring and tried to keep Zepeda out, but it didn't work. Zepeda landed body shots to keep him from moving and cut off the ring to pummel him with strikes.

Cabrera was successful in the first two rounds and was able to land punches, but in the third round the fight took an unfortunate turn for him when Zepeda came closer and punched him, causing injuries to his body.
