After four months, hundreds of leaked gameplay videos, and everyone you know playing it, Valve has finally admitted that Deadlock exists

Since the first Deadlock leaks came out in May, Valve's next game has been in a strange limbo: There are hundreds of gameplay videos floating around, a public subreddit, and a peak player count of over 44,000 thanks to invites handed out like candy—including to Steam tracking website SteamDB. But the studio itself refused to acknowledge the game's existence until today. Deadlock has a Steam store page, and we're finally allowed to talk about it and share clips, as if that's stopped anyone before.

The Deadlock store page is extremely spartan—you're better off watching the game on YouTube if you want to get an idea of what it's about—but it's something. There's a teaser video, some extremely low-res key artwork, and plenty of reminders that Deadlock is still a work in progress. “Deadlock is a multiplayer game in early development,” the topline description reads. “Early Development Release: Deadlock is still in early development with lots of temporary graphics and experimental gameplay.” You can't even put it on your wishlist yet.
