Sabrina Carpenter's music video “Taste” confirms her love for Prada lipstick

Following the overnight release of her highly anticipated album “Short n Sweet,” Sabrina Carpenter released a new music video for her single “Taste” featuring two notable co-stars: Jenna Ortega and Prada’s Monochrome Soft Matte Lipstick.

The music video begins with Carpenter taking Prada lipstick from a selection of knives – the video references a number of iconic Halloween thrillers, including Death Becomes Her and Psycho – and applying it, using the blade of a knife as a mirror. This is the second time a Prada lip product has appeared in Carpenter's music videos; in the “Please Please Please” video, the singer applied the color-changing Prada lip balm in Astral Pink that went viral on TikTok.

Based on our hands-on testing of Prada's top lipsticks, Carpenter opted for the Monochrome Soft Matte Lipstick instead of the more intensely pigmented Hyper Matte formula. We can't confirm exactly which shade she's wearing while battling Ortega for a boy, but the rich plum hue looks closest to the brand's Sienne shade.

Want to try it? This beauty writer can attest to how flattering Prada's lipstick shades are: While the range includes classic pink lipsticks and true red lipsticks, my favourite shades are somewhere in between. Prada has perfected the undertones of hard-to-wear lip colours like peach, taupe and auburn to make your next statement lip look, well, even more of a statement. The Soft Matte lipstick glides beautifully on the lips for a casual look. It has a mild intensity that you can build up with a few strokes and blend easily with your fingertips.

Carpenter has sold out of Prada lip products in the past, so act fast to secure your new lipstick for fall below—knife optional. For more on the formula, check out our Prada lipstick review.
