Chico man sentenced to one year in prison for attempted arson | News

BUTTE COUNTY, California. – 56-year-old Marc Traylor was sentenced to one year and four months in prison.

Traylor pleaded guilty to attempted arson charges in North Chico in July of this year.


This stems from an incident on July 3, when authorities responded to a call that Traylor was attempting to set fire to a 100-acre field southeast of Chico Airport.

The witness who called authorities questioned Traylor, and Traylor said he set it on fire. The witness understood Traylor's statement to mean that he had attempted to set the vacant lot on fire.

The witness then called the Butte County Sheriff's Office and chased Traylor away.

Police then arrived at the scene and Traylor resisted arrest. They were eventually able to arrest him at the scene for attempted arson and resisting arrest.

Traylor also pleaded no contest to the charge of resisting prosecution.
