Indian woman says she experienced racism at concert in Albania – viral video

An Indian-origin woman claimed in a video that went viral on social media that she was subjected to racist behaviour during a music concert in Albania. According to her, she was verbally abused by a group of local girls.

The incident occurred during a Jason Derulo concert. The woman was standing in line when the altercation occurred.

The now viral video was posted by “PostsByFeds” on August 20.

In the video, the woman recounted how four local girls had jumped the queue. When she pointed this out, the girls told her to “go back to India,” made derogatory comments and laughed at her.

“I'm at a Jason Derulo concert in Tirana, Albania and I was standing in line. There was this group of four girls who just came up to me and cut in front of me. When I pointed it out to them, they repeatedly told me to go back to my country and laughed about it. They even called me their mother and stuff, so yeah, I feel very welcome. Albania, great job, thank you very much,” the woman is heard saying.

The video has been viewed over 4 million times so far. While many social media users condemned the behavior of the local girls, others said that “Alabnia is not welcoming to tourists.”

“She handled it very politely. She represented her country in a healthy way.”

“It is always treated as extreme racism.”

“Albania is not a place for tourism.”

“Why did she go to Albania?”

“Why would anyone go to Albania?”

“I think it's a shame that people who have experienced similar nonsense (in a time when there were no mobile phones/social media) go online and share their experiences with others. PS: Racism in all shapes and forms exists and anyone who denies racism and says it doesn't exist in society is lying.”

The viral video sparked a discussion about racism in Albania, with several users calling for more inclusivity and respect for tourists.
