Stacker released a study for 2024 that identified the 50 fastest growing jobs in our state. I'm not going to go through all 50 now, but I'll give you the top five.

5. Highway maintenance worker

OK, this one might not be that shocking. I mean, just look at all the construction we have to go through every year.

From 2022 to 2023, there was an increase in job placement of over 30%.

4. Manager

Whether at the local grocery store or restaurant, this is one of the fastest growing jobs in North Dakota. That makes sense when you just look at all the new restaurants opening.

From 2022 to 2023, there was an increase in job placement of over 32.1%.

3. Cement masons and concrete workers

We desperately need roads and sidewalks. As our communities in North Dakota grow, we need more people to take on this task.

From 2022 to 2023, there was an increase in job placement of over 34.1%.

2. Mobile heavy machinery mechanics

Whether it's annual repairs or expansions, we need big machines for lots of jobs. If something goes wrong with one of them, we need someone who knows what they're doing and can fix it.

From 2022 to 2023, there was an increase in job placement of over 34.3%.

1. Leisure and recreation staff

Yes, this is the fastest growing job in North Dakota. I admit, I didn't expect that.

From 2022 to 2023, there was an increase in job placement of over 39.6%.
