Philly rapper, accused leader of violent street gang that dug up enemy's grave, shot dead

Abdul Vicks, who performed under the stage name “YBC Dul,” was shot dead in Olney on Friday night. according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The newspaper reported that prosecutors called the popular 25-year-old rapper “the leader of a notoriously violent West Philadelphia gang.” The Inquirer reported that police said Vicks was shot multiple times in the chest and right hand shortly after 3:30 p.m.

The newspaper reported that he was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.

The Inquirer also reported that the gang prosecutors said Vicks led was called the “YBC,” or “Young Bag Chasers.”

The newspaper reported that Quamere Hall, a 22-year-old rapper who performs under the name “Mere Pablo,” was arrested earlier this month and charged with the shooting death of a 34-year-old man. Hall was described as “a Vicks associate.” The Inquirer added that Hall was at the Criminal Justice Center at the time of his arrest because he was supporting another YBC member, Arshad Curry, who was facing conviction for the 2021 shooting of five people, three of whom died. The Inquirer said Curry was sentenced to up to 85 years in prison.

The newspaper also reported that three other YBC members were convicted last year of murdering two teenagers.

Vicks' nickname was also “Mr. Disrespectful.” He went viral on social media in February for sharing a video of himself digging up an enemy's grave. Vicks was Podcast “No Jumper” beginning of the year.

“You know it was me,” Vicks replied when asked if that was really him in the video.

“I've been trying to find the grave of that (swear word),” he added. “But he doesn't have one. They never get him one.”

Then he laughed.

“I'm not giving people any more influence,” he added. “I'm done with that. I'm not naming names.”
