Viral video: Woman in Chinese restaurant is ‘attacked’ by live shrimp, internet users say: ‘She deserved it’

China is known for having the strangest dining experiences in the world, with diners wanting to try almost every delicacy. Most of the time, the cuisine is so delicious that diners don't want to leave the restaurant, but sometimes things go wrong.

In a similar incident, a customer at a hotpot restaurant in China faced her worst nightmare when a live shrimp turned the tables and then fought for survival.

The woman eating at the restaurant also recorded her dining experience. When the shrimp escaped from the boiling broth and started crawling onto the table, the woman tried to put it back on the boiling broth using chopsticks. However, the shrimp came to life and jumped out of her hand.

The woman then tried to get rid of the shrimp, but it was too late as the shrimp had a hold on her hand with its sharp forearm. Watch this woman cry in pain. A restaurant employee intervened and tried to remove the aggressive shrimp from her hand.

The video has now gone viral on several social media platforms, including Instagram and TikTok, and has garnered millions of views.

A social media user posted the video on Instagram and wrote: “Live seafood cooking gone wrong in China. Woman tries to eat a type of shrimp, but the shrimp decides to eat her instead.”

After the video was posted, several netizens also commented. Here are some comments:

One wrote: “So she was wearing a microphone before she got bitten? Weird!!”

“Good for this shrimp! He wouldn’t give up without a fight,” read one comment.

Another user commented: “What a surprise that the poor frightened creature didn't want to be boiled alive!”

A fourth user commented: “This is karma!”

“This is a type of mantis shrimp. They are aggressive and have praying mantis-like stinging arms that they use to stab their prey or apparently people who try to throw them into boiling soup,” one person said.

Another added: “This delicious shrimp is just trying to survive and defend itself.”

“I don't understand why you have to eat this. Just cook it,” wrote one.

“She deserves it,” someone commented.
