Fatal accident in NYC: Two dead in wrong-way driver accident on Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan, police search for fleeing driver

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (WABC) — Police are searching for the driver of a serious accident that ended fatally on the Henry Hudson Parkway early Saturday.

Flames blazed along the road near 165th Street as traffic came to a standstill just before 2:30 a.m.

Officials say the driver of a pickup truck was traveling south on the northbound lanes when he collided with a Dodge sedan.

A 40-year-old man was admitted to Harlem Hospital and a 38-year-old man was admitted to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

They were both in the limousine and were pronounced dead at the hospital.

Two people in the pickup ran away from the scene of the accident.

A 22-year-old passenger was later arrested and questioned by police.

As officers continued their investigation, northbound lanes near 178th Street remained closed.
