Woman claims her partner accused her of 'wasting water' after taking a 26-minute shower, sparking outrage online

A woman claims her partner accused her of wasting water after a 26-minute shower – and her account of the accusation goes viral

The woman, who says she lives with her partner, detailed their dispute in a post on the subreddit ReAmITheA——.

The original author (OP) describes herself as a “woman with longer, thick hair” who was in the middle of a “full body shower” that included “washing, conditioning hair, shaving everything, washing body and face.” She said her partner “freaked out because I was in the shower for so long.”

“My partner said they were running the water from the sink while I was in the shower and asked if I noticed how much water was being wasted,” the woman recalled. “I asked how I could hear that while I was in the shower.” To which her partner replied, “Exactly.”

She calculated the shower time based on the length of her playlist and stated that it was 26 minutes in total.

“I take this long shower every 3-4 days,” she explained. “I don't shower every day (because I work from home), but when I do, it takes me less than 10 minutes to wash my body and hair like a normal wash.”

When readers were asked if she was “the asshole” for taking 26 minutes to take a full body shower, many people responded loudly in the comments section.

“NTA [Not the a——]. He thinks you're the house for wasting water but he left the water running the whole time? Worst. Water. Police. Ever,” one person shared.

Another wrote: “No problem. I have never measured the time my partner spends on personal hygiene. I have also never run water in the sink or flushed the toilet while my partner was in the shower. I could be wrong, but responsible, mature adults don't do this to themselves.”

Many also questioned their relationship. Another wrote: “NTA. If you have long hair, it is not long. But the problem is not the length of your shower. Your partner is not your owner and you are not his slave. You are equal partners. You can decide for yourself how long you need to shower.”
