Ten women detained for human trafficking released after search of their property in Chetumal

Chetumal, QR – A house search in Chetumal has led to the release of ten women detained on human trafficking charges. The women were discovered by police in a private home on Friday.

The search took place in a house on Granadillo Street in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood of Chetumal, where ten adult women, alleged victims of human trafficking in the form of prostitution, were taken away, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) reported.

“After various investigative works, the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) opened an investigation that led to a judge issuing a search warrant for a property on Granadillo Street, in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood.

“During a search of the premises, investigating police found ten adult women, whom they rescued and brought to the Southern District Prosecutor's Office to give their testimony about the incident.

“Cans of green, dry grass with properties similar to marijuana were also seized at the crime scene. At the end of the procedure, the property was given official seals and placed under the custody of the municipal police,” the FGE added.
