Sabrina Carpenter reacts to reaching a major milestone in new music video kissing Jenna Ortega

Sabrina Carpenter celebrated a major milestone with her bloody video for her new single “Taste.”

The 25-year-old actress and singer has been on the scene for a while, but this year she became a megastar thanks to her hit “Espresso.”

Carpenter is ready to capitalize on her newfound popularity and has just released her highly anticipated sixth new album In short – and what better way to do that than with a new music video that features a bloody and vengeful love triangle.

With Wednesday Star and scream queen icon Jenna Ortega, 21, in the “Taste” video, the two women play jealous lovers competing for a boyfriend.

In the three-minute video, Ortega and Carpenter are seen fighting with various weapons such as knives, chainsaws, voodoo dolls and picket fences, inadvertently taking their loved ones with them to the grave.

The video is also full of references to various cult films of the last decades, such as Kill Bill Vol. 1, Death Becomes Her, Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and even a reference to her “Please, Please, Please” video.

It's no surprise, then, that the new song by Sabrina Carpenter + Jenna Ortega + Easter Eggs from the movie = a huge hit with fans, as the video is now the number one trending video on YouTube, having been viewed 13 million times in one day alone.

The warm reception obviously also pleased the singer, as she has since shared her joy about this milestone on Instagram.

She posted a clip from the video with the caption: “#1 trending video thank you!!!”

Whether it's the catchiness of the song or the fact that Carpenter and Ortega kiss at one point, the video for “Taste” definitely got fans talking – and watching.

“I've watched this an unhealthy amount of times,” wrote one person, while a second fan said, “Someone give them their Oscar now.”

“Taste” even received the seal of approval from Paris Hilton herself, who left a heart emoji in the comments.

The film references in Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste” video

Death suits her well

Most of the references in “Taste” come from the 1992 classic in which Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn compete for the affections of the same man.

Halloween ends

Ortega and Carpenter's lover is played by Rohan Campbell, who played Corey Cunningham in the 2022 video.

Kill Bill – Volume 1

The costume worn by Jenna is similar to the one worn by Daryl Hannah's Elle Driver in Quentin Tarantino's 2003 film when she tries to kill The Bride in the hospital.

Psycho

In one scene, Carpenter tries to attack her rival in the shower with a kitchen knife – just like in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic.

The Addams Family in a crazy tradition

It is widely believed that Sabrina's fur look is a reference to Debbie Jellinsky in the 1993 film.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

One of the murder weapons used by Jenna is, of course, a chainsaw.

Ginger cookies

Sabrina finds herself impaled on a white picket fence, similar to the intro to 2000 Ginger cookies.
