PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Two accidents occurred at an accident scene early Saturday morning after a car collided with a tow truck that was removing another crashed car.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said they were at the scene of a crash around 5:30 a.m. Saturday that occurred around 2 a.m. on Thomas Drive near Crescent Street. They said a tow truck arrived at the scene to tow one of the cars involved in the crash.

Troopers said the tow truck was parked in the center turning lane with its lights on and flashing while the tow truck driver got out and spoke to one of the troopers on the side of the road.

Police said that at the time, a 65-year-old woman from Memphis, Tennessee, was driving an SUV down Thomas Drive toward the crime scene.

The woman allegedly did not yield the right of way to the emergency vehicles with their blue lights on, whereupon the SUV ended up in the middle lane and crashed into the loading area of the tow truck.

Authorities said the police officer on scene pulled the woman, who was seriously injured in the accident, from the car and provided her with emergency medical care until Bay County EMS arrived.
