Woman arrested for machete attack in Petaluma – NBC Bay Area

A Petaluma woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly attempting to attack a neighbor with a machete, according to a news release Saturday. The woman reportedly fled to Novato and was arrested there.

The 50-year-old woman allegedly armed herself with a machete in the 700 block of Marin Way in Petaluma and chased the victim into his home just before 4:30 p.m. The victim barricaded himself in a nearby room while the woman hacked at the doorway and forced her way into the room. The woman then allegedly attempted to attack the man with the machete.

The woman fled the room and police evacuated the home. Officers believed she had fled to Novato and notified Novato police. There, officers found her vehicle and took her into custody.

The woman was arrested and taken to the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. No injuries were reported and the weapon was recovered.
