The Air National Guard in Louisville has no active shooter

Reports of an active shooter at the Air National Guard base in Louisville have turned out to be a false alarm. Lt. Col. Dale Greer of the Kentucky Air National Guard said there was no active shooter at the base and explained some of what happened. He said during an active shooter drill, it was reported to the Base Defense Operations Center that a real shooter was active. Lt. Col. Greer said base officials believed this erroneous report was the result of the drill, but this has not been verified to date. Out of an abundance of caution, the base forwarded the report to Louisville Metro Police. The building where the incident was falsely reported was cleared by Air Guard security forces working with LMPD. Greer said there were no further reports of a shooting, no shots were fired, no injuries were reported and there was no indication this was an actual event. WLKY contacted Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport to find out if the incident caused any flight disruptions. “There was a very brief, approximately 10-minute stop at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) this morning during the incident at the Kentucky Air National Guard base,” spokeswoman Natalie Chaudoin said. Chaudoin said one flight, Delta 3821 from Detroit, was diverted to Lexington. She said the flight has since resumed and is en route to Louisville. “All terminal operations were normal and unaffected,” she said.
