Shooting victim found dead at gas station in Birmingham

Birmingham police are trying to find out who shot a man outside a gas station early Saturday morning

Birmingham police are trying to determine who shot a Hispanic man outside a gas station early Saturday morning. Officers received a call of a gunshot report to the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue West at around 2:40 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man shot in the parking lot of the Exxon gas station. Upon further investigation, investigators were able to determine that ShotSpotter registered several gunshots shortly before the call came in to police. The Exxon gas station was closed at the time of the shooting. Police also said the El Centenario nightclub across the street was open. Birmingham police are trying to determine who shot and killed a Hispanic man outside a gas station early Saturday morning.

At around 2:40 a.m., officers received a call about a shots fired in the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue West. When they arrived, they found a man shot to death in the parking lot of an Exxon gas station.

Upon further investigation, investigators were able to determine that ShotSpotter registered several gunshots immediately before the call to the police.

The Exxon gas station was closed at the time of the shooting. Police also said the El Centenario nightclub across the street was open. Detectives were reviewing nearby surveillance cameras for more information.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 205-254-1764.
