Buffalo drug dealer who killed suspected informant openly confesses

A drug dealer who killed a man he believed was a federal informant has pleaded guilty to drug and weapons possession, U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced.

Gregory Hay, 35, of Buffalo, also known as Franklin Gambino, Gunner and Reggie, faces a minimum sentence of five years in prison, a maximum sentence of life in prison and a fine of $1 million when he appears for sentencing before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara on Dec. 10.

According to prosecutors, Hay sold cocaine, crack, marijuana and heroin from early 2016 to August 2019, first in the Salamanca area, then in Olean. Drugs were seized from his vehicle during traffic stops by Buffalo police in April 2017 and Salamanca police a month later.

In May 2019, investigators executed a search warrant at Hays' home and seized two firearms, several ammunition magazines, and several cell phones.

Prosecutors said Hay believed Joshua Jalovick, 27, of Buffalo, gave federal law enforcement information that led to the search. He and another man lured Jalovick to a home on Freund Street on July 1, 2019, and shot him in the backyard. Jalovick died of more than 15 gunshot wounds, according to the Erie County coroner.
