Maruti Brezza CNG leaked – LAUNCH SOON! » MotorOctane

Maruti has the largest CNG portfolio in the Indian car market. Recently, it launched two new CNG cars (Baleno and XL6) which are sold through dealership Next. Not surprisingly, Maruti has another CNG car that is yet to be unveiled and that is none other than the Maruti Brezza CNG. Today, new spy photos of the Brezza CNG have surfaced, hinting at an imminent launch. What information do the spy photos reveal? We discuss everything in this article.

Brezza CNG – What to expect?

Brezza CNG

Maruti's Brezza was already a smash hit in the small SUV segment. Now that it has been spotted with the factory-fitted S-CNG option, it is likely to have a major advantage over its rivals like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and others. These spy photos have been uploaded by 'Real Gaadi' on their YouTube channel.

From the images, it can be seen that the overall exterior design is identical to that of the regular model. However, the biggest change is that the CNG tank will occupy most of the car's 328-litre boot. Apart from that, this Brezza configuration is likely to get CNG telematics on the MID and a CNG switch on the dashboard.

Brezza CNG – Specifications and variants

Maruti will continue to power the Brezza CNG with its 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. However, the power figures might drop by around 10bhp. So, we can expect it to produce around 89bhp in CNG mode. The chances of the Brezza CNG getting an automatic option seem very slim as all other CNG cars from Maruti are available only in manual configuration. However, some media reports in the past suggested that a Brezza CNG with an automatic was a possibility. Will it become a reality? Only time will tell.

If Maruti plans to offer CNG in the automatic variants as well, the cost could be much higher considering that the torque converter AT itself is Rs 200,000 more expensive when comparing the current Brezza MT and AT variants. If we add the CNG cost of around Rs 90,000, this variant could be unaffordable for an average CNG car buyer.

Prices and market launch

The CNG variant is now in stock at various dealerships in India. This can only mean that we can expect a launch perhaps as early as next month (Maruti has already launched two CNG cars this month). And what about the price? We can expect a premium of Rs 90,000 over the standard car for CNG equipment. Moreover, like other Maruti Arena cars, we can see the CNG add-on in the 'VXi' and 'ZXi' variants of the Brezza.
