Lyndonville man arrested for curfew violation and drug possession

LYNDONVILLE – On August 23 at approximately 4:17 p.m., Lyndonville Police arrested Mack Varnum, 46, for allegedly violating his curfew and possession of illegal drugs.

According to the police report, a call from a concerned citizen about a man in a truck on Mathewson Hill Road led to the encounter with Varnum, a Peacham resident.

Varnum was placed under a 24-hour curfew in connection with pending charges, including attempted first-degree premeditated murder and aggravated domestic violence.

When officers arrived at the scene, they confirmed that Varnum had violated his curfew.

During the subsequent investigation, it emerged that Varnum was in possession of substances that were probably tranquilizers, stimulants or narcotics.

After his arrest, Varnum was taken to the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility.

He is being held on court orders and bail is set at $10,000 cash or surety.
