18-year-old charged with murder in Round Rock Juneteenth shooting

A detained suspect in connection with the fatal shootings at a Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock has now been charged with two counts of murder and 13 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Keshawn Dixon, 18, is being held in the Williamson County Jail after being arrested in Killeen on July 6 and initially charged with deadly conduct in connection with the June 15 shooting at Old Settlers Park.

The stage will remain at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on June 17 after two people were killed in a shooting at a Juneteenth celebration two nights earlier. On Friday, police charged a suspect with two counts of murder.

In a statement announcing the new charges late Friday, Round Rock police said the investigation was ongoing.

Ricky Thompson III, 18, a student at Manor Senior High School, and a male juvenile were arrested within days of each other. Thompson was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, among other charges. Dixon was the third suspect arrested in the incident.

According to police, a dispute broke out between two groups attending the Juneteenth event, and around 10:50 p.m. several people pulled out guns and shot at each other.

Lyndsey Vicknair, 33, of Manor and Ara Duke, 54, of Pflugerville died after the shooting. Police said Vicknair and Duke were attending the party and were not connected to the altercation that preceded the shooting. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to his affidavit, Dixon was observed shooting Thompson in the vendor area of the Juneteenth celebration.

The argument started because Thompson's rap group “Whaa Ent” insulted Dixon's rap group “Get Money Entertainment,” the affidavit states. “The disrespect was in reference to a member of Get Money Entertainment who had previously been murdered,” police said.

Dixon has a criminal history that includes arrests for three robberies, terroristic threats, assault and evading arrest, police said. Get Money Entertainment is also a gang, according to the affidavit. Dixon's most recent arrest in March was for unlawful carrying of a weapon and discharging a weapon in certain municipalities, the affidavit said.
