Chris Watts' crime scene photos show a dusty grave and oil drums in which he disposed of his daughters' bodies, while he blames his wife for the affair

KILLER dad Chris Watts has shamelessly blamed his wife for his affair, years after killing his entire family to be with his lover.

Watts called his late wife a “control freak” while serving time in prison for murdering her and his two young daughters in 2018.

The triple murder shocked the nation after it was revealed that he murdered his wife and then stuffed the bodies of his two daughters into an oil drum. Their mother's body was found nearby in a dusty grave, crime scene photos show.

The then 33-year-old admitted to strangling his wife Shanann and then suffocating his two daughters Bella (4) and Celeste (3) when they begged him for help.

Watts never gave an exact motive for the gruesome murders, but many suspect it had something to do with an affair he was having with Nichol Kessinger.

The texts revealed that Watts and his wife were having a number of marital problems and that the father had only started dating Kessinger two months before his family was murdered.

Watts' cellmate Dylan Tallman told the New York Post that the father allegedly blamed his wife for his affair, which led to the murders.

“She was really busy with her job and everything that came with it,” Watts told Tallman.

“I met Nichol,” Watts said.

“She was everything my wife wasn't to me. She was just nice and not a control freak. We could make decisions together.”

According to the Denver Post, Kessinger was a willing participant in the police investigation.

She claimed she was “shocked” to find out he was still married and his wife was 15 weeks pregnant.

“I thought, 'If he could lie to me and hide something so big, what else was he lying about?'” she said.

“He's a liar. He lied about everything.”

Heinous acts

In August 2018, Watts dumped his pregnant wife's body in a shallow grave and then dumped the bodies of his little girls into nearby oil tanks, NBC affiliate KVOA reported.

Drone footage of the area released by police after the incident shows the two huge oil rigs on which the children's bodies were left.

The oil tanks had a hatch at the top with a diameter of 20 centimeters, through which the man threw the lifeless bodies of his daughters.

Watts dumped the bodies of the two girls into different tanks. Medical examiners reported scratches on Bella's body after she was pushed through the narrow hatch.

Further drone footage showed the extremely shallow grave where Shanann's body was left.

Shortly after Watts disposed of the bodies, people began asking questions.

When police stopped by his home to ask questions, the manic Watts told officers he had left for work early that morning while his wife and children were sleeping.

The next day, the husband appeared on a local news station and asked the public for help following the “world-shattering” tragedy.

However, thousands of pages of documents, text messages and videos led police to suspect that Watts was involved in the incident.

Two days after his interrogation, he pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife.
