Husker fans prepare for fall with a double fan day

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – The Nebraska football and volleyball teams hosted their annual fan day on Saturday to prepare the Husker Nation for the upcoming season.

The day started early at the Bob Devaney Center with a line snaking around the building. Players and coaches were there to sign autographs and interact with fans of all ages.
The transfer players and newcomers were officially welcomed by the volleyball fan community and looked forward to the eagerly awaited season.

“It’s just a great community and it’s really supportive,” said Husker fan Maggie Gibilisco.

“They have more in common than just volleyball, so hopefully this will help them play better together,” Husker fan Tyler Harm said.

At the Hawks Championship Center, many fans of the Nebraska football team gathered to support the team and meet starting quarterback Dylan Raiola. Fans brought everything from posters and helmets to homemade black jerseys, signs and a guitar to get autographed.

“I've been playing guitar since I was five, and I was like, 'Well, I thought let's bring some energy into it this year.' They're asking me, 'Can I strum it, can I see it, where did you get it?' and all that stuff. They love it,” Connor Raastad said.

“I thought the Huskers needed a little more in their defense to celebrate turnovers, so I designed the Turnover Sign, which tells the world: If you can't score, you can't win,” said Paul Rea, who designed the Blackshirts' sign.
