If you recently tested positive for a vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that you may wait three months after having COVID-19 before receiving these current vaccines.

Walmart has indicated on its website that appointments will begin on September 6. CVS hopes to begin in late August.

CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen says testing, treatments and vaccines remain top priorities.

“All of these vaccines prevent the worst of these infections. That means fewer doctor visits, fewer hospital stays, and more time to enjoy the fall and winter with family and loved ones,” Dr. Cohen said.

The new vaccines were announced after the CDC said, based on wastewater testing, that current COVID-19 activity in California is very high. And the West is the region with the highest Covid activity.

The last time COVID-19 activity was this high in California was Christmas week of 2023.
