Man charged with premeditated murder after fatal stabbing

The brawl occurred on August 19 near 16th Street and Indian School Road in Phoenix. A suspect has since been charged and taken to jail.

PHOENIX — A man was taken to jail for allegedly killing a man in a stabbing on Aug. 19, according to Phoenix police.

The department said the fight occurred around 8 p.m. near 16th Street and Indian School Road.

When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Efren Partida with a stab wound. He was taken to the hospital and later died.

Investigators later learned that another man, now identified as 36-year-old Christopher Rhodd, had walked to the hospital after being stabbed in the fight.

Rhodd was released from the hospital on Friday and, according to Phoenix police, was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and charged with first-degree murder.

According to police, a verbal argument between Partida and Rhodd near a supermarket escalated into physical violence. During the argument, both men pulled out knives, which led to the stabbings.

Two other people were arrested after the brawl. Their identities were not disclosed.

This is a developing story and more details will be added as they become available.
