Public closure of a shooting range in Kaysville confuses hundreds

KAYSVILLE — A popular outdoor shooting range in Kaysville will be closed to the public on Sunday, and hundreds of users want to know why.

The Wahsatch Shooters Association, which managed the range for 30 years, announced the closure on its website. The range will remain open only for police training.

WSA Executive Director Jeff Young says he was overwhelmed by the flood of emails.

Young said members would have to dispose of their equipment by the end of the month but would be given pro-rata refunds.

The Davis County Sheriff's Office issued a statement on its Facebook page saying the Kaysville shooting range will reopen as soon as possible, but a date has not yet been announced.

The sheriff's office advises locals to contact the Board of Davis County Commissioners for more information.
