Update on Kolkata doctor rape and murder case: The polygraph test of the main accused in the rape and murder of a medical intern at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sanjoy Roy, is likely to take place today – a day after it was postponed due to technical reasons. While Roy's lie detector test is taking place in prison, the others have been called to the CBI office in the CGO complex in Salt Lake City, Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has submitted all documents related to the alleged financial irregularities in the case to the CBI, a week after the Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation to the probe agency.

The rape and murder case of a doctor in Calcutta – What we know so far:

  1. The body of the 31-year-old doctor-in-training was found half-naked in the seminar room of the RG Kar Medical College on August 9.
  2. According to police, the incident occurred between 3 and 5 a.m.
  3. The victim's autopsy report indicates that the woman was sexually assaulted and then strangled and suffocated.
  4. According to investigation, the arrested accused, identified as Sanjoy Roy, severely injured and abused the doctor and killed her by choking and suffocating her.
  5. The CBI told the Supreme Court on Thursday that there was an attempt by the local police to cover up the rape and killing of the doctor as the crime scene had already been altered when the federal agency took over the investigation.
  6. The main accused, Sanjoy Roy, is in cell number 21 of the jail and is under tight guard. He is alone in the cell. CCTV cameras have been installed outside his cell to keep a close watch on him.
