Woman killed in shooting, suspect in custody

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night in Crockett County, just outside Gadsden.

According to the Crockett County Sheriff's Office, a call came in around 5 p.m. Saturday evening that a woman had been shot.
According to authorities, she was taken to the hospital and the suspected shooter was immediately arrested.
At around 8 p.m. that same evening, authorities announced that the victim had ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

“It is a sad day for Crockett County when one of our citizens is injured. Our sincere condolences go out to the family and everyone involved,” said Stephen Sutton, spokesman for the Crockett County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities say identities are not being released at this time and that this is an ongoing investigation.
