Two suspects arrested after collision with stolen vehicle involving HPD patrol car

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Two people were arrested in Harrisonburg Saturday night after driving a stolen vehicle from the Charlottesville area into an occupied HPD patrol car.

Mike Parks, Harrisonburg's communications director, said the officer in the vehicle was spared injuries at the scene and fortunately no one else was hurt.

The two suspects, a 16-year-old who was driving the vehicle and an 18-year-old passenger, were located by HPD at around 9 p.m. at the Skyline Village Shopping Center near Martin's.

They attempted to flee the mall parking lot when HPD vehicles began blocking the exits.

While attempting to escape, the suspects rammed a community member's vehicle and then crashed into the HPD vehicle.

Both suspects then attempted to flee on foot and were caught and arrested by police after a short chase. A stolen firearm was also found on the 18-year-old suspect.

Both suspects are facing charges.
