35-year-old man arrested for murder of woman and child in Arunachal Pradesh

A man is suspected of killing his wife and child in Longding district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, a police officer said on Sunday.

Police have arrested 35-year-old Gangngam Gangsa, a resident of Khanu village in the district, for allegedly killing his wife Ngamjun Gangsa and their child Phagang Gangsa on Saturday, Longding police chief Dekio Gumja said.

According to SP, a certain Mangu Pansa filed a complaint against Gangngam Gangsa at the Longding Police Station, claiming that he shared a picture of his wife and child in a WhatsApp group and claimed responsibility for their murder.

On receiving this information, a police team accompanied by the complainant and Magistrate Bini Shiva arrived at the scene and found the bodies of the woman and the toddler, the SP said, adding that the accused was immediately arrested and taken into custody.

A local “dao” and a shovel were recovered from the scene, he said, adding that an autopsy had been conducted and the bodies handed over to relatives.

A case has been registered and investigations are on to find out the reason behind the gruesome murder, the SP added.
