Teenager dies in shooting at West Ashley apartment complex

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Charleston police are investigating a homicide at an apartment complex late Saturday night.

The shooting occurred at about 11:53 p.m. at the Palmilla Apartments on Ashley River Road, Sergeant Terry Cherry said.

The operations center received a call that several shots had been fired and a person was lying on the ground, he said.

When officers arrived, they found a teenager with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. They attempted to render aid until emergency medical services arrived, but the victim died at the scene, Cherry said.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office has not yet released the victim's name.

There was no immediate report on whether any arrests had been made.
