Karnataka: 2,144-page chargesheet filed against Prajwal Revanna in sexual assault and rape case | Bengaluru

The Karnataka Police SIT has filed a 2,144-page chargesheet against former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in the sexual assault and rape case.

Revanna is under investigation by the British Ministry of Justice on allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation. The allegation: A woman who worked as a domestic helper in his house had complained to him.

In June this year, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Karnataka Police, which is probing cases of sexual assault and harassment against Prajwal Revanna, registered a fourth case against the former Janata Dal (Secular Party) MP from Hassan.

Unlike the three previous cases against Prajwal Revanna, in which the 'sexual assault' section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was applied, the fourth case was registered under the sections 'sexual harassment', 'stalking' and 'criminal intimidation of a victim' and 'secretly recording and sharing pictures of the victim'.

Prajwal Revanna returned to India barely a month after he left Germany, allegedly on the night of April 26, after several obscene videos allegedly featuring him surfaced on social media platforms. He was arrested on May 31 upon his arrival at Bengaluru airport.

Earlier, on May 29, the SIT had arrested two main accused in connection with the case. The arrested were identified as Naveen Gowda and Chetan. According to the officials, the accused were arrested when they appeared before the Supreme Court and sought interim bail. Chetan Gowda and Naveen Gowda were alleged to have distributed pen drives containing videos of Prajwal Revanna's sexual assaults on women.
