Iran and Vietnam promise stronger cooperation in fighting crime

TEHRAN: Iranian Ambassador to Vietnam Ali Akbar Nazari and Vietnamese Public Security Minister Luang Tem Quang have stressed the need for increased cooperation in crime prevention.

During their meeting on Saturday, Nazari stressed that both sides recognize the importance of fulfilling existing agreements, facilitating the exchange of delegations and cooperating in combating criminal activities.

Nazari also announced on social media that Quang congratulated Iran on the successful presidential election and the election of Masoud Pezeshkian as president, underlining the potential for strengthening bilateral relations in line with national interests.

In addition, both officials reiterated their commitment to the implementation of cooperation agreements focusing on the exchange of delegations to effectively combat crime.

Iran and Vietnam have developed cooperation in crime prevention through various bilateral agreements and joint initiatives. Since 1979, both countries have formalized their commitment to combating transnational crime and have addressed issues such as terrorism, drug trafficking and money laundering.

Vietnamese law enforcement authorities have participated in training sessions organized by the Iranian Law Enforcement Forces (LEF) focused on combating terrorism and organized crime. In addition, the two countries have exchanged delegations of police and law enforcement officials to discuss common concerns, including the extradition of criminals and the transfer of prisoners.
