A serious drug case spanning several counties has resulted in over 30 arrests, but many people are still on the run.

Police in Johnson and Franklin counties launched a drug crackdown this week, targeting individuals accused of selling cocaine, meth and fentanyl.

“When drugs are involved, other crimes are going on,” said Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess. “When you start locking these people up, you're taking away the dealers. You're trying to take down the big ring or the operation.”

Police plan to use technology and other methods to track down the remaining suspects.

“There are different things we can use,” Burgess says. “We knock on doors and look for these people. We have other employees they have been in contact with, and sometimes those people will betray them or let us know where they are.”

Police are searching for people who sold meth, cocaine and fentanyl.
