2 friends charged with ‘murder’ of Ludhiana MC staff

Two days after the body of a municipal garbage collector was found on a vacant lot, Division 3 police on Sunday filed premeditated murder charges against two of his friends, officials said.

The accused were identified as Sanjeev and Bhanu and the former was arrested.

Police said they were waiting for an autopsy report to determine the cause of death.

A relative of the victim, 34-year-old Sunny, had been protesting since Friday demanding the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused.

The deceased was found dead on a vacant lot on Friday.

Veeru, the victim's brother, said in his statement to the police that Sanjeev and Bhanu came to their house on Thursday evening and took Sunny on a bike.

He said they searched for Sunny when he did not return, but in vain. On Friday, his body was found in a vacant plot. Veeru claimed that the accused had “murdered” Sunny.

Officials of Division 3 police station said a case of intentional killing has been filed against Sanjeev and Bhanu.
